Specialist Lightweight Recovery Truck
Recovery Truck Technology
We specialize in building lightweight recovery trucks with vehicle bodies manufactured from aerospace aluminium composite panels. This technology enables us to produce lightweight bodies considerably lighter than traditional car transporters.
Traditional example:
4.8m x 2.0m recovery truck body made from 5 bar aluminium checker plate
approximate weight 400 to 450 kgs
Lightweight example:
4.8m x 2.0m recovery truck body made from aerospace aluminium 200 kgs
When you apply this to a 3.5 GVW chassis the figures speak for themselves.

Optional Air Suspension
The system has a number of advantages over traditional leaf springs. Most 3.5 GVW chassis will require a lifter spring to support the weight of 1.7 tons of car and body. This if fine but depending on what is loaded, the springs will lower to the weight applied.
The air suspension we fit requires us to completely remove the manufacturers leaf springs and replace with four air bags, compressor and 15ltr air tank. This allows the car transporter rear to lower enabling you to load from fixed short ramps with a great approach angle. Other benefits include a set ride height, this means that no matter what you load onto the recovery truck, the rear will lift to a fixed set ride height so the car transporter will never look overloaded. The system also has a very clever set of air valves which enable the suspension to self level when cornering, counter balancing the air bags and keeping the body from leaning over in the way that standard leaf springs do.
Standard Bodies
We currently produce bodies for two industries; Car transportation and Ground maintenance service vehicles.
Car transportation examples:
Ford Transit 350 LWB SRW FWD Payload up to 1600 kgs with body fitted
Renault Mascot 6.5 LWB DRW RWD Payload up to 4000 kgs with body fitted
Ground maintenance example:
Ford Transit 350 MWB SRW FWD Payload up to 1700 kgs with body fitted
